The Challenges of Middle Management
Middle Management positions can be defined as any position where the individual is responsible for the performance of other individuals yet has to report to others in higher levels of management. Middle Management Professionals often have the titles of Supervisor, Manager, Director, Vice President, and even President. There are about 23 million people in the United States in mid-level management positions of which nearly 20 percent of those have reported symptoms of depression. Compare that to the blue collar workers with 12 percent being reported. Middle managers are also reported as having the lowest level of job satisfaction. Middle managers are in the bottom 5 percent when it comes to job satisfaction.
This survey was developed to take a deeper look at what the causes may be to creating the stress, anxiety, depression and overall dissatisfaction in these positions.
